We are currently accepting applications for a person to join our existing crew of experienced and talented road builders. General job requirements include the following:
- Willing to work variable schedules that may include long hours in all types of weather conditions.
- Ability to learn general maintenance of road construction machines on the jobsite
- Ability to interpret written jobsite plans and do basic arithmetic for tracking rock yardages

This position is for Surfacing Crew Equipment Operator 2. Job duties include operating a smooth drum compactor for up to 10 hours per day, chainsaw operation for trimming roadside brush, measurement/marking of rock truck spreads, organization of daily rock truck tickets, and assisting in repair and maintenance of the heavy equipment on the jobsite. The successful candidate will take daily instruction from the grader operator who is also the jobsite foreman. Within a 3-year period, this candidate must be capable of learning to operate a grader, front end loader, and water truck in a safe and productive manner. The ability to obtain a minimum of a class B commercial driver’s license in this timeframe is necessary. No prior road building experience is required although preference may be given to those who have some operating experience in heavy equipment. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are of higher importance than actual experience.
This position is permanent and full-time with the possibility of seasonal layoff. Typical work week for this position is 5 days/week at an average of 50 hrs/week during summer construction season and 40 hrs/week during the winter.

The duties and responsibilities of a head millwright are as follows:
- Primary responsibility is to ensure the mill is operating with minimal downtime or start up delays
- Quickly respond to production interruptions with tools necessary to initial diagnosis
- Ensure repairs are completed effectively and efficiently testing work completed to confirm proper working order
- Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and carry out predictive maintenance requirements
- Ensure preventative maintenance program is followed and tracked/recorded for all equipment including rolling stock
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic/pneumatic systems, gears, reducers, bearings, sprockets, chains, belts and valves
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment for improved reliability and uptime
- Work with other departments in the planning of and installation of new equipment and system upgrades
- Perform the duties of a welder such as torch cutting, arc welding, mig welding, tig welding, plasma cutting, etc
- Assist electricians and other maintenance personnel in performing tasks both within and outside of trade qualifications
- Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures and actively participate in safety program (emphasizing lockout/tagout program)
- Assist in clean-up mill-wide

- Train everyone involved in proper & safe rigging and lifting
