Today’s story is about Dean. A working father of two doing what he can to keep a roof over his head. A year and a half ago Dean’s wife passed away leaving him alone to take care of his two daughters. His youngest of which having just entered the world shortly before this tragedy. We all process loss differently, but Dean decided to use this unfortunate event to turn around his life to the best of his ability. Getting his family, a new apartment, and quitting his addictive vices, Dean was on the right track.

However, life always tends to send us a curveball. A few months ago, Dean was involved in a nasty car accident. A drunk driver t-boned Dean leaving him rather banged up with an amputated leg. This left poor Dean unable work, and unable to move around as freely in his recovery.

As you can imagine, not being able to work means that Dean is having to rely solely on his veteran’s pay.  This would cause any normal father a serious sense of self doubt and remorse. A feeling no parent should ever have to experience.

However, Dean is staying strong for his girls. The life of a father knows barriers, and this father will be sure to whatever it takes to keep his family safe and secure. Even though Dean doesn’t plan on putting up a Christmas tree this year, that won’t stop him from making great memories with this family. He is looking forward to be able to move again in the coming year after he knocks out all of his physical therapy.

Thankfully there is help on the way. This is why we are proud to announce that with the awesome partnership of Brooke Communications and Rogue Credit Union, Dean will be receiving a gift card to Tractor Supply to get new boots and any other supplies he may need when he starts working again. His family will also be receiving gift cards to both Fred Meyers and Sherm’s Thunderbird Market, to help fill the pantry and to make sure that his daughters can get some awesome gifts for Christmas. Thanks to our partnership with Man crafts and The Steel Outlet Dean was also be receiving a ramp and basket to carry around his wheelchair more conveniently on the back of his jeep while he recovers.

And to top it all off, Umpqua Liquidation and Sunrise Enterprise are teaming up to make sure that Dean’s family has a Christmas tree this year. We look forward to hearing the amazing memories that Dean and his daughters will create this holiday season, gathered around that tree.

Merry Christmas Dean!
